Imphal, June 4: Six houses and two hostels have been damaged at Lukhambi Part-2 and Khumji villages of Tamenglong district due to the lashing of heavy rains in the past couple of days.
Hostels and private schools were also damaged by sludge and mud carried down from railroad tunneling sites in Tamenglong, a report said on Sunday.
It said rain caused havoc in the district as around 6 acre of paddy field has also been inundated by mud accumulated while drilling railway tunnel.
Noney district Deputy Commissioner visited the site to take stock of the situation there. He instructed the rail line construction company to not let accumulate mud in the area without the Social Impact Assessment.
Men are working to clear and shore up the mudslide-socked area, the report said.
