Aizawl, June 19: Main opposition of Mizoram, the Mizo National Front (MNF) asked Congress led state government to rehabilitate those families who have been victimized by flood, landslide and other natural calamities.
Addressing a political session at Mizo Hnam Run on Monday, MNF vice president Dr. R. Lalthangliana offered condolences to families of twelve people who were killed during the landslide in Mizoram.
“Our sympathy and heart goes to those families who have been victimized by flood and landslide, triggered by incessant rains that lashed the state from the past week,” he said.
Dr. Thangtea also asked the state government to give sincere sympathy towards the victims, and immediately arrange treatment and rehabilitation services for them.
He slammed the Congress government led by Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla for its inability to re-construct a subsidence land at Hnunthar and other landslide area at Rangvamual, on the outskirts of Aizawl City.
“We strongly condemned the government for its inability to repair dilapidated roads in different parts of the state and we asked it to immediately take measures for re-construction of roads across the state for the welfare of the people” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Thangtea ruled out the allegation that he was playing for the party presidentship and said that MNF party workers found confidence under the leadership of their existing party president Zoramthanga.
He expressed hope that MNF would come to power in the next assembly elections under the same leadership.
Dr. Thangtea said that MNF government was far better than Congress as far as infrastructural development is concerned.
He said that MNF, during its rule was successful in establishing and constructing Millenium Centre at the heart of Aizawl, Durtlang highway, Ch. Saprawnga Truck Terminal at Rangvamual, Ch. Chunga Bus terminal at Thuampui, city complex at New Capital and recruited four police battalion, among others.
