Your mandate for Naga solution: Imkong
Minister and senior NPF leader Imkong L Imchen said NPF is seeking the mandate of the Naga people so that its Government can bring an early and honorable solution to the protracted Naga political problem.
Addressing the Mokokchung Division NPF election campaign Kick Off today at Mokokchung town, Imchen said the Naga political problem is primary to the NPF party and that all other issues are secondary.
“Our commitment to resolve the Naga political issue has been steadfastly constant and unshakeable and our party was the first to start the slogan of “Solution Before Election” when our party-led Government passed a Resolution in the Assembly on December 15, 2017 urging the Government of India to solve the Naga political problem before holding elections to the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly,” he said but pointed out that the former alliance partner BJP had adopted the stance of “Election for Solution.”
“The BJP has not given any time line to resolve the Naga political problem, but since it is in power at the Centre we trust that the party would keep its word and there is no reason why we should doubt their declaration,” he added.
MLA Nuklutoshi who is contesting on NPF ticket from Arkakong Constituency, also speaking on the occasion today, assured the Chief Minister that all ten candidates of the party plus another Ao candidate from Dimapur district shall return to the 13th House and extend unflinching support to the Chief Minister TR Zeliang.
MLA Dr Benjongliba Aier who is contesting from Janpetkong Constituency on NPF ticket informed the Chief Minister that all the party’s candidates in Mokokchung district have comfortable advantages over their rivals and exuded confidence that the party should do extremely well in the district.
Comparing Rio to the Biblical character Jonah whose presence on board the boat on its way to Nineveh threatened to sink the craft, Dr Aier said earlier the NPF had a Jonah on the boat of NPF which almost resulted in a political tragedy for the party but that “now, Jonah has left the NPF and our ship should have smooth sailing from now on.”
Former Minister and present NPF candidate from Mongoya Constituency Dr Ngangshi Ao thanked the Chief Minister for narrating in detail the turn of political events ever since Rio decided to go to the Parliament and also the numerous developmental projects TR Zeliang had introduced during his tenure in the district especially on the road sector, and assured the Chief Minister that they the candidates and leaders gathered today would go to their respective constituencies and educate the people properly.
The former minister made special mention of the party President of the Division Mr Moasangba describing him as “a dynamic stalwart of the party having sterling qualities as a leader and an inspiration to the rank and file of party men and women”, and requested party leadership to “reward him befittingly in the days to come for his loyalty, dedication and contribution to the NPF party.”
The meeting was chaired by the party Division’s General Secretary (Administration) Mr Tangit Imsong.
