Imphal, May 29: Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen along with PHED Minister Losii Dikho on Monday visited the family members who were victims of the a devastating fire that broke out a few days back at a residential quarter of PHED, Kangpokpi.
The residential quarter of Goulen Khongsai, a Grade IV employee of PHED, Kangpokpi was destroyed in the major fire that occurred on May 25 last.
Earlier, the ministerial team visited the site damaged by the fire. The blaze, however, did not cause casualties.
During the visit the Social Welfare Minister Nemcha Kipgen assured all assistance to the family.
Kipgen, who is also the local MLA, handed over various relief materials to the victims that included two bags of rice, pulse, oil, sugar, blankets and mattress.
On the sidelines of the visit, the team inspected the construction of PHED division office now nearing completion.
Minister Kipgen later inspected the ongoing black topping work on the 2 km long road connecting NH-39 and Phyapou village.
The Minister also visited Kalapahar to personally oversee the road construction work there. This road will directly connect Kalapahar with NH-39. The road is being constructed under the special package sanctioned for Kangpokpi district by the Public Works Department (PWD).
The minister later asked the locals of Kalapahar to submit a proposal to the government for construction of a proper drainage system there.
