Rishang Keishing, former chief minister of Manipur, died on Tuesday at the age of 98.
On July 1 this year, he was admitted to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal due to age-related health problems. Doctors at the same hospital declared him dead around 6:30pm, family sources said.
Rishang Keishing had served as chief minister of Manipur four times.
Keishing, the oldest serving parliamentarian in the world, is a senior politician of the Indian National Congress and is a former member of parliament representing Manipur in the Rajya Sabha
He was born to Rungdi Keishing and Mungshingla Keishing in Bungpa Khunou, Ukhrul district of Manipur.
